SEEA Workshop: community energy meets one-stop shop support

14th of May in Dublin

As part of ongoing European collaboration in the SCEPA Project, the South East Energy Agency (SEEA) hosted a workshop on 14 May 2026 at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin, exploring the relationship between energy poverty, community energy initiatives, and One-Stop Shop (OSS) support models.

Voices from Across Europe

Held as part of a national conference with a European perspective, the event brought together leading voices shaping the future of OSS delivery, energy renovation, and climate policy. Speakers included Alexandra Hamilton (South East Energy Agency), Ralf Kampe and Stephen Oba (EU Peers, SCEPA NWE and the DeCarb Project), Jenny-Claire Keilmann (Climate Alliance), Christophe Milin (European Commission), and Georgina Molloy (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland). A panel discussion, chaired by Alexandra Hamilton, featured Silvio De Nigris (Regione Piemonte), Marion Jammet (Irish Green Building Council), and Jenny-Claire Keilmann, alongside a Community of Practice member sharing insights from the field.

A shared European challenge

The session highlighted the growing challenge of energy poverty, both in Ireland and internationally. Discussions focused on the multiple, interlinked factors that shape household energy vulnerability, including affordability, housing quality, health, geographic location, and access to support services. Participants agreed that no single factor tells the whole story - tackling energy poverty requires understanding how these dimensions intersect at the household level.

Looking ahead

The conference also covered the EPBD Recast in practice and scaling OSS models across Ireland and Europe, reinforcing the value of the SCEPA partnership in sharing experience and adapting solutions across regions. Through continued cooperation, SCEPA is supporting more sustainable, resilient, and community-focused energy solutions across Europe.
